For lovers

New Years with Singapore Flyer Singapore Flyer. Various timings and prices. Start the new year by climbing to new heights (165m to be exact): the Giant Observation Wheel is offering a four-course lunch and dinner that includes a wild snapper with pasta in cream sauce, or roast beef with roast potatoes in black-pepper sauce, as a main. Toast this with a glass of Moët and Chandon on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Alternatively, countdown to 2012 aboard the flyer as fireworks light up the night sky.

I Love Ku Dé Ta New Year's Eve Party Ku Dé Ta. 8pm. Men and women $148, includes one glass of champagne. Order your last round of champagne and start 2012 at great heights where the New Years Eve fireworks can actually be seen.

Clarke Quay Countdown. Central Fountain Square, Clarke Quay. 10pm. Free. This year's countdown is inspired by New York, so get ready for a Times Square feeling sans the snow. Get your pictures taken with Uncle Sam, Broadway dancers and other iconic NYC characters, while listening to a live performance by Goodfellas and dance music from DJ Shigeki (AUS). The most anticipated act is Chris America (USA) who's prepared a Madonna tribute show.

Marina Bay Countdown Marina Bay. Various timings. Free. Usher in new beginnings with loved ones at this New Year’s countdown, featuring special music and majestic fireworks. Write down your wishes for the New Year at wishing stations and watch as your wish, together with those of others, comes alive as part of a visual-arts installation at Marina Bay.

Roaring ’70s New Year’s Eve Countdown Party Sentosa. 8.30pm. Free. Dress up in retro threads to join in this five-star resort’s night fever, featuring magicians, street performers and hustle-friendly retro hits.

Happy 3+65 Countdown Show The Promontory @ Marina Bay. 6.30pm. Free. Catch this free NYE evening concert of local musicians before the fireworks go off, organised by local music enthusiasts and concert promoters Republic of Pop, specialising in all things Singaporean. The concert lasts three hours and will feature homegrown acts such as rock bands Black Forest and The Pinholes, singer-songwriters Deon Toh and Natalie Hiong, Malay pop group Sleeq, budding pop star (and Miss Singapore Chinatown 2011) Cheryl Wee and more. Look out for more quarterly 3+65 concerts from ROP throughout 2012 as well.

Celebrate 2012 The Float @ Marina Bay. 8pm. $25. It’s time to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style! Catch performances by These Kids Wear Crowns (the latest pop-rock sensation from Canada), Siti Nurhaliza from Malaysia, Singapore Idols Sezairi Sezali and Sylvia Ratonel, and many more. Don't forget to stay for the fireworks at midnight, and music by DJs Thryce and Vault.

Boogie Countdown at Universal Studios Singapore Universal Studios Singapore. 6.30pm. $28-$68. Boogie down and run around the amusement park until midnight to try out the rides, but don't miss the evening's 10-minute parade with 14 glammed up floats cruising around the park, while the star characters of Universal pose for memorable photos. Bee Gees, ABBA and Beatles tribute bands will be playing for the rest of 2011, before an explosive set of fireworks.

For the scenesters

I (Heart) Dubstep: Dubpocalypse NYE Special Home Club. 9pm. Men and women $22, includes one drink. A ‘dubpocalypse’ awaits you at 2011’s end. Alterno scenestars Darren Dubbwise, Jerls, Reiki, Amrit, Eden and Motif churn up a woofer-wobblin’ brouhaha chock-full off post-dubstep, gnarly underground broken beat and low-freq fidget funk for young, bold, left-field types.

Two Thousand & Twelve Nights with Martin Solveig Zouk. 10pm. Men and women $40, includes two drinks. The funky French house don heads up Zouk’s crammed-to-the-corners NYE throwdown this year. Pack some party poppers and say hello to the New Year – champagne flutes raised and good vibes abound – with free-floating, playful, synth-driven electrohouse hits. Huzzah!

2011 Avalon Singapore's NYE Extravaganza Avalon. 10pm. Men and women $50. Watch the fireworks from Marina Bay Sands' newish playground while dancing to the beat of Avalon Hollywood's resident DJ Steve Prior, joined by Andrew Tang, Effen and Tony Tay.

Siloso Beach Party. Sentosa Island. 6pm-6am. $49, includes one free drink. Move to the maestros of music at Azzura, stimulate your senses at Café del Mal, infuse cutting-edge tunes at Coastes, and ride the rhythm at Wave House Sentosa in Asia's largest beach NYE countdown party.

Azzura Endure NYE 2011 Azzura Beach Club. 6pm. Free. Penthouse admission $40, includes one drink. Party till the wee hours of the morning and catch the sunrise (if you're still sober) at this beachfront bash as house, techno, and electro maestro Style of Eye electrifies the dance floor between midnight and 3am. In the lineup are Djs Sivinesh, Seng Wei, Azid, and Sid to make sure you never miss a beat.

The Black Ball Butter Factory. 9.30pm. Men and women $25. Come dressed to impress as Butter's resident Djs herald in the New Year with an eclectic mix of heart-thumping hits sure to vivify and excite even the most seasoned partygoers.
